This reminds me of the time when the local police (I live in the Netherlands) tried to cath a cock. The cock had kept us awake all night. One of the offecers got stuck with his net in a tree. The other one lost the chase after 100 meters. He told me they had been chasing the d**nde bird for a couple of weeks. Anyway, it was a wild cock and they were not alowed to catch it. As far as I know there do not live wild cocks in Holland. A week later I spoke to a girl living uposite of me. "That cock" she said with a bloodcurdling voice "is no more". They had caught it with a trap.
